Effective Job Coach training 

Providing effective job coaching and long-term supports is the most important way that we can improve employment success. Join us for an interactive job coach training with Jacque Gerdes, co-founder of Alternative Work Concepts, as she shares coaching tips from almost 40 years of experience in supported employment.

Training details:

  • Zoom room opens at 9:55am
  • Class starts at 10:00am
  • 15-minute break (please plan your lunch accordingly)
  • $20 for APSE members and $30 for others*
  • Possible special introductory membrship rate, when signing up for this class (details below)
  • Earn 3 Continuing Education (CE) credits (provide email to receive certificate)

About Jacque Gerdes

Jacque has over 40 years of experience in the field of supported employment working with individuals who experience significant ID/DD, physical/multiple disabilities and mental health issues. Since 1982 she has been instrumental in helping set up innovative programs and organizations to assist individuals with significant barriers to employment to become valued employees in their communities.  Jacque is the co-founder and Asst. Executive Director of Alternative Work Concepts in Eugene, a supported employment organization dedicated to people with significant, multiple disabilities since 1986.  She provides technical assistance and training to adult service providers, assists the Oregon Dept. of Education in designing curriculum for school transition personnel, and still works with individuals, creating jobs, job coaching, analyzing tasks, developing adaptations and coordinating long term supports.  Jacque shares how all people can be successful in well-paid and meaningful jobs in their communities with the right vision, strategies and supports.

More Information about Introductory Membership

  • Must be a first-time Oregon APSE member or over 10 years since being a member.
  • Sign-up for membership through National APSE https://apse.org/membership/membership-benefits-types/, using code ORAPSE and then register as an APSE member for this training.
  • APSE membership, adding your voice to the Employment First movement, to ensure that people with disabilities are paid a fair wage and are an important part of local integrated workforce in every community.
