Meeting Summary:
Josh Neese, Founder of The Florida Oyster Trading Company and Director of the Pensacola Oyster Cluster, will be discussing the current oyster aquaculture industry status and the hatchery seed production process as well as providing an update on the newly formed Pensacola Oyster Cluster. The Pensacola Oyster Cluster is an industry-led aggregate of farmers focused on collaboratively growing the Greater Pensacola Bay System’s oyster industry and blue economy.
Brandon Smith, Co-owner/farmer of Grayson Bay Oyster Co. located in Pensacola Bay, will discuss oyster aquaculture permitting, gear types, benefits and challenges of farming oysters. Grayson Bay Oyster Co is a tide-to-table, sustainable family oyster farm whose mission is to provide high-quality oysters while helping to improve water quality and educating the public on sustainable aquaculture methods.
