Who Should Attend

Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Creative Arts Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, and any professional that is working in the mental health field. 

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify at least 1 mental health disorder that women are commonly diagnosed with and the reason why
  • Participants will be able to explain at least 1 way in which role strain, hormonal changes, traumatic experiences, and relationship challenges impact on women's overall wellness
  • Participants will be able to identify at least 2 ways that an imbalance in wellness affects women mentally, physically, and spiritually
  • Participants will be able to identify at least 1 intervention clinicians can use in domains of mental, physical, and spiritual health to improve women's wellness

This workshop will focus on supporting women’s wellness through an integrative approach to care. Emphasis on unique issues women experience during different life phases and how those issues impact on women’s health will be discussed and possible interventions for use along mental, physical, and spiritual health domains will be provided.

About the Presenter


Dr. Fazeeda Abdur-Rahman is the founder and owner of Vibrant Women’s Wellness Counseling (VWWC), a Christian based mental health company that focuses on supporting women. Dr. Rahman oversees the day-to-day functions and is also a practicing therapist. Her professional experience includes 18 years of combined direct clinical, supervisory, and teaching in areas of social work and psychology. Her area of expertise includes women’s wellness, particularly utilizing complementary alternative treatments of yoga and Christian based spirituality with conventional psychotherapy.

Dr. Rahman is passionate about helping women to overcome trauma and other negative effects on women's well-being, so that women can become the best they can be and experience fullness and joy in their lives. Her work is focused on both supporting clients, clinicians, and students to be their optimal selves.

Dr. Rahman’s education includes doctorate and master’s level training in social work, with a concentration in mental health and bachelor’s level training in psychology. She received degrees from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services, Howard University, and York College (City University of New York) respectively.

In addition to her work at Vibrant Women, she is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor with Walden University, where she teaches courses in social work.
