This is the event you don't want to miss! Family Guidance Center invites all to come learn about the mind-body connection and take part in our wellness activities that are designed to engage the mind and get your body moving. Featuring a 5k timed run, family-friendly walk, and so much more! Not a runner? Join the walk! Unable to walk? Attend the vendor fair and enjoy a free relaxing chair massage. Better yet, reduce your stress and flex your body while attending a free yoga session. That's not all! The fabulous Wacky Patti (previously Pipper the Clown) is returning to delight everyone with her amazing balloon creations! We will once again be holding the exciting Kid's Decorated Wheels Parade featuring a Red, White and Blue theme and there will be Carnival Games with fun prizes, as well. Look for Healthy U Fitness in the vendor area to try out one of their AMAZING smoothies. Finally, as always, we're expecting some incredible raffle baskets you won't want to miss! Raffle tickets will be available for purchase (cash or card accepted!) throughout the event and raffled off at the close of the event. We can't wait to see everyone there!

IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION: The Berks County Armed Forces Day Parade is scheduled to take place at 10AM in West Reading on Saturday morning. Plan accordingly if your travel route may be impacted by the road closures. The reported parade route will follow Penn Avenue from Wyomissing, head east into West Reading, right onto S. 3rd Avenue, right onto Spruce Street and left onto S. 7th Avenue.

5k Run / Family-Friendly Walk Information:   

  • All proceeds benefit Family Guidance Center and those we serve.
  • Online registration CLOSES Tuesday, May 17th at midnight. HOWEVER, we can still take in-person registrations for both runners and walkers on the day of the event. Please plan to register no later than 8:30am to be sure your registration is complete prior to the start of the race. The registration table can be found under the porch of Stone House.

Pre-Registration: Register on/before April 29, 2022: 

  • Runners: $25 entry fee. T-shirt and swag bag included with paid registration, while supplies last.
  • Walkers: $5 entry fee. T-shirts available for an additional charge, while supplies last ($15/shirt).
  • Children Walkers (12 and under): Free, please fill out registration form with a signed waiver.

Registration after April 29, 2022:

  • Runners: $30 entry fee. T-shirt and swag bag included with paid registration, while supplies last.
  • Walkers: $10 entry fee. T-shirts available for an additional charge, while supplies last ($15/shirt).
  • Children Walkers (12 and under): Free, please fill out registration form with a signed waiver. 

NEW Course Map for 2022!

We have some exciting news for our runners and walkers! Developed through the help of the Wyomissing Borough Police Department, PA and the Borough of Wyomissing Parks and Recreation Department, our 5k run and family-friendly walk will follow a new course this year! A map with turn-by-turn directions will be provided to all who take part and we will once again have volunteers (for the runners) and Mind Your Health signage in place to help guide participants during the event. Runners and walkers will now start and finish at the same location on the south side of the park.

Awards to Top Male & Top Female AND Top 3 Males & Top 3 Females by age group: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Kid's Decorated Wheels Parade and Contest:

This year's theme is...Red, White and Blue!

Calling all tricycles, bicycles, unicycles, scooters, wagons, strollers, wheelchairs, so on - if it is NON-MOTORIZED, permitted in the park and has wheels, we'd love to see it! Decorate your ride according to the Red, White and Blue theme AT HOME then bring it along for the judging and parade at 10:30am! 

  • Judging will be based on age groups: birth-4, 5-8, 9-12
  • Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age group
  • All participants will receive a goodie bag
  • FREE to participate!
