 “Relocation to Italy for individuals under Italian favorable tax regimes”

 The panellists will explore Italian favourable tax regimes aimed at attracting individuals to Italy. They will focus on the specific aspects which arise in cross border US-Italy situations”.

Marco Cerrato, partner of Maisto e Associati, is an Italian lawyer based in Milan who assists corporate and individual clients on contentious and not contentious matters related to domestic and international tax law.

He is retained by banks, family offices and individuals for generational planning, lifetime asset transfers and ownership structures, transfer of residence to/from Italy and taxation/structuring of art collections and philanthropic activities, having developed wide-spanning expertise in those areas.

He holds an LLM in Tax from the London School of Economics and Political Science and is professor of International Tax Law at the LIUC University of Castellanza in Italy. He acted as consultant to the Italian Government in 2015-2016 on various tax matters and is the current Chair of Italian branch of STEP.

Alessandro Bavila, partner of Maisto e Associati, is an Italian lawyer with consolidated expertise in international taxation, personal and estate planning, trusts and taxation of individuals. He is visiting lecturer at the LL.M. program of the University of Amsterdam and is regularly invited as speaker at conferences and seminars on tax topics. He is an international fellow of ACTEC (American College of Trust and Estate Counsel) and has been appointed member of the Scientific Committee of Step Italy since 2021. Before joining the Firm, Alessandro was IFA researcher at IBFD in Amsterdam. He holds an LLM in Tax from the University of London and is admitted to practice in Italy.
