'The Summit Room'

Youth Summit

 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE 2022 YOUTH SUMMIT THEME:

The Above the Influence-Kent County Youth Coalition Brand Ambassadors selected 'THE SUMMIT ROOM' as the theme for the 2022 KCPC Above the Influence-Kent County Youth Summit. The group is determined to speak to the need for their peers to be empowered with tools in the event that they need to reroute from negative life decisions made. The Summit Room is all about encouraging this generation to RECOVER, RESTORE, and REBUILD! Youth will be inspired to take a stand abd to drive positive change in our community, while transforming health and wellness trends. Ultimately, this year's theme is designed to inspire youth to: [1] Overcome life obstacles, [2] Redefine their future, [3] Build the character and tenacity needed to achieve one's dreams, [4] Overcome pop culture messages that suggest that alcohol, tobacco and other drugs are not harmful and [5] Walk free from s tigma, shame, and past mistakes. Youth will be empowered and equipped to excel individually, lead socially, and revolutionize their families, schools, and community by living Above the Influence. This event will allow a first-timer or Summit regular to step into The Summit Room and experience the power of being surroujnded by like minded youth who are ready to influence culture and their peers.

YOUTH SUMMIT IS DESIGNED TO:
  • Engage youth in being visible, valuable, and vocal to underage substance use prevention efforts in Kent County
  • Champion the voices and engagement of youth in the work of underage substance use prevention
  • Understand the underage substance use issues and emerging trends in Kent County
  • Engage youth as investors in the health and wellness of Kent County
  • Develop adolescent leadership skills and talents
  • Foster relationship-building among teens across the county, state, and region
  • Create opportunities for youth to engage community leaders and elected officials
  • Use innovation, art, technology, and media to deliver prevention messages

This event will be offered virtually with special deliveries for schools who register their students as a group.
