Most of us believe that our treatment of others is fair and equitable, because after all, we have dedicated our lives to caringfor people with disabilities be it as a service provider, teacher, or medical professional.
However, to the surprise of many, even for the most egalitarian among us, implicit biases deeply impact the quality of care provided on a day-day basis, within the moment of treatment.
Join us as we lean-in to some uncomfortable topics, unpack our own thoughts and feelings, and explore what implicit bias really looks like, how it impacts us both professionally and personally, and how we can work to change our biases moving forward. Be prepared for lively discussion of real world scenarios and some “aha moments!”
