Aurora Water APS 5th Grade Teacher Workshop
How Do We Get Clean Water?

This workshop is designed specifically to provide you with the background knowledge to teach the APS 5th Grade Water Unit, "How Do We Get Clean Water?" Discover first-hand, where our water comes from, how it is delivered to customers and what happens when it goes down the drain.

Learn about Colorado water challenges while you explore our mountain watersheds, learn about the effects of climate change and forest fires on our water, conduct water quality studies, tour a water-wise garden and visit Aurora's Wwater and wastewater treatment facilities.

You’ll walk away with the nationally recognized Project Learning Tree and “Project WET” (Water Education Today) curriculum guides, ideas on how to use these activities to supplement curriculum and access to innovative educational opportunities provided by the Aurora Water Department.

  • August 1 & 2 -  8 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. We will travel to the mountains, Aurora Reservoir and our Water Purification Facilities throughout the workshop via bus. Dress for the outdoors and be ready to do some hiking on gravel trails and lots of walking.
