Backyard Composting with Jennifer Armstrong of Sustainable Saratoga

It’s possible that some recent news has piqued your interest: compost has a role in fighting climate change by reducing methane production. Food scraps in a landfill produce this potent greenhouse gas; not so when they are composted. Of course, there are many other benefits for individuals as they compost the plant waste from their own kitchens and gardens. Join us to learn how you can reap these benefits by doing your own composting! In this workshop, we will describe the important basics of composting in clear and easy-to-understand terms. Composting is a straightforward and easy process that results in a useful end-product when you follow the science. You will also hear what the specific benefits are - both personal and global - and why so many people are passionate about composting. We will include information about equipment to consider, as well as steps to take in setting up and using a system that can uniquely suit your own situation. Because it is important to be able to assess the process, we also include trouble-shooting techniques.
