Welcome to the Blind Department Alumni - Content Expert Panel! 

FSDB  is excited to host weekly panel discussions/activities with a panel of Alumni experts from the Blind Department. This event is focused for students/families of all ages and will begin May 11, 2022 through June 8, 2022. We will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00PM to 7:00PM (EST). 

Please join us for these free virtual meetings to engage parents, caregivers, and professionals associated with students that are blind or visually impaired to discuss information related to blindness, low vision, and the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) presented by Blind Department Alumni and staff members.

These virtual meetings are free! Resources and extension activities will be shared related to each topic and each session will close with participant and expert Q & A.

Virtual Meeting Dates and Topics:

 Weds., May 11, 2022 Introductions – Panelists will introduce who they are, how they have been associated with FSDB, and their life journey. Theme: Sensory efficiency - using everything that you have!

Weds., May 18, 2022 Exploring the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) - Compensatory skills and assistive technology including braille or print access, communication, and concept development

Weds., May 25, 2022 Social Interactions & Recreation and Leisure - How to meet people and live your best life!

Weds., June 1, 2022 Orientation & Mobility and Independent Living - sighted guide to buying a house!

Weds., June 8, 2022 Self-Determination and Career Education - It is never too early to start learning this!

Intended Audience:  Parents/Caregivers and Teachers and Professionals working with blind/visually impaired students.
