6:00 to 9:00 pm

Agenda

6:00 pm - Registration & Networking
6:30 pm - Buffet Dinner

7:15 pm - Presentation

The Hilton Garden Inn was built in 2019 on a bluff
overlooking the $6 billion construction site where
workers are completing construction of this new facility.

The hotel is located about 1/2 mile from the Monaca exit (39)
on I-376, about 10 miles north of the Pittsburgh Airport.

Come for a great meal and an indepth discussion
about how this large plant was designed and built.

It has been reported that this is the largest single
construction project ever in Western PA.

For more information about this project, see articles at

About the Speaker

Arthur Bailey is the Technology Manager for this new Shell Chemicals plant and oversees all technical aspects of the design, construction, staffing, start-up and operation of this plant.

He has been involved in this project since March 2016 and
relocated from Houston TX to the Beaver County PA area several years ago.

Mr. Bailey is a Chemical Engineer with 15 years at Shell and previous experience at Exxon and Lyondell.

Mr. Bailey previously spoke with us at the Hilton on Sept 25, 2019 and via Zoom on April 8, 2021.  We are anticipating another very interesting evening for local ChE's.

For more info, see Mr. Bailey's bio here.

Discussion Topics

Mr. Bailey plans to give us an overview the following topics:

  • Update on Shell's major investment in this Beaver County plant
  • Disussion of how they managed to cope with the many challenges associated with the COVID pandemic
  • Shell's sustainability plans

We are expecting many students from our 5 local ChE schools (CMU, Geneva, Pitt, WVU, YSU).  We are asking that only 1-2 students from each school sit at each table to encourage more discussions with professionals and students from other schools.

A cash bar will be available in the reception area.
