The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry
What: We are all busy. Some of us can't remember the last time we rested or even had free time.
Our busyness can feel productive but it is a toxic distraction, sapping our spiritual, physical, and
emotional vitality. It may seem like we have no choice but to live at a frantic pace, but God has a
better path for us. Join pastor and author John Mark Comer in this five-part series as he addresses
one of the greatest threats to our spiritual lives: hurry. Instead of allowing our calendars and screens
to control our lives, Jesus offers us a new rhythm of life, overflowing with grace, peace, and beauty.

When: Wednesdays, June 22 - July 27 (skipping July 6) ~ 7:00-8:30pm
Where: LHUMC Bride’s Room
Led by: Lindsey Parker & Gretel Roberts

Prayer in the Night:
For Those Who Work or Watch or Weep
What: How can we trust God in the dark? Framed around a nighttime prayer of Compline, Tish
Harrison Warren, author of Liturgy of the Ordinary, explores themes of human vulnerability,
suffering, and God's seeming absence. When she navigated a time of doubt and loss, the prayer
was grounding for her. She writes that practices of prayer "gave words to my anxiety and grief and
allowed me to reencounter the doctrines of the church not as tidy little antidotes for pain, but as
a light in darkness, as good news." Where do we find comfort when we lie awake worrying or
weeping in the night? This book offers a prayerful and frank approach to the difficulties in our
ordinary lives at work, at home, and in a world filled with uncertainty.

When: Wednesday, August 10 (a one-night book discussion) ~ 7:00-8:30pm
Where: LHUMC Bride’s Room
Led by: Kari Olson & Gretel Roberts
Cost: Cost of book

Weekday Groups for Men

Gospel of Luke: A Verse by Verse Study
What: Luke is serious about Jesus and serious about making sure everyone can meet Jesus. In his carefully written account of the life of Jesus, Luke goes to great lengths to make sure that his audience knows that the outcast, the poor, the sick, the non-Jews, the women, and the children all have equal access to Jesus. Luke also wants to make sure we know that the Holy Spirit is at work in bringing people to Jesus! Join Pastor Andy for a chapter by chapter, phrase by phrase, verse by verse, word by word study of the Gospel of Luke as we encounter the risen Jesus together!

When: Fridays ~ 6:30-7:45am
Where: LHUMC Fellowship Hall or Zoom Online Meeting
Led by: Pastor Andy Roberts

Discipleship Bands

Discipleship Bands

What: A band is a group of 3 to 5 men or women who meet together weekly to support one another, pray for one another and encourage one another to become the love of God for the world. Now is a great time to begin a band of your own! Also, bands are easy to gather together virtually! For more details about what a band is, visit www.lhumc.com/groups or www.discipleshipbands.com.
