Walk in Our Family's Shoes

Because not every Aiken Family knows where they'll sleep tonight.

Walk in Our Family's Shoes is an opportunity to learn more about the struggles of finding local housing that works for a family and how Family Promise of Aiken is working to address those challenges.

The walk is FREE and is open to children and adults of all ages! Stop by any time between 9:00 and 10:30 am to participate!

Join Family Promise staff, Board of Trustees, prior clients, and volunteers to learn more about our mission to transform the lives of families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity through a community-based response.

We will have guided walks of the church grounds to experience the struggles that families facing housing insecurity face as part of this immersive experience.

Breakfast and family activities will be available.

Family activities include:

  • face painting
  • glitter tattoos
  • balloon animals
  • lawn games

Registration is not required, but is encouraged.

About Family Promise

Launched in 2020, Family Promise of Aiken County is committed to serving families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Our vision is for every family to have a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.

As an affiliate of a well-established national organization, we strive to create the foundation for stability that lifts families from poverty and permits them to aspire to the future every family deserves.  One of Family Promise of Aiken County’s goals is to offer a variety of strategies to ensure the people we serve do not fall into the cycle of housing instability that can devastate families and alter the course of children’s lives

Special thanks to First Presbyterian Church of Aiken for hosting this event.
