Growing Growers ICT - Postharvest Handling and Food Safety and tour at RISE Farm

To wash or not to wash? (This is actually a question we hear the time!)

How quality produce gets safely from your field into the hands of your customers is a multifaceted process that is critical to your farm's success and your customer's satisfaction. At our fifth Growing Growers workshop, we will learn about harvest, storage, and transport techniques (hello, CoolBot!) that keep your produce looking good and tasting fresh, as well as an overview of best food safety practicies on the farm. To wash or not to wash? Come find out!

This workshop will also feature a farmer's market field day activity at the Old Town Farmer and Art Market, and a tour at RISE Farm. The lecture portion will be held in the classroom at RISE Farm - directions for how to get to the classroom will be sent upon registration. Because of the many components of this workshop, we highly encourage in-person participation. A recording of the lecture will be available to those who cannot attend live, but there will not be an option to join live via Zoom.

Thanks to our grant, this workshop only costs $5 and related books at half price. If you order book(s) with your registration, we ask that you pick them up on site the day of the workshop OR at the Sedgwick County Extension office if at all possible. If this isn't possible we can send them by mail.

Schedule and parking details will be sent upon registration.
