Get ready to expand your native plant palette while exploring two private home native gardens located in historic Golden, CO! Learn from the experiences of the garden hosts as well as the other plant loving attendees to get creative ideas for your own natural landscape.
Visit each garden property at your leisure during the tour time-frame.
Garden 1 features an expansive 180-foot by 8-foot strip between the road and the sidewalk that has been converted to natives in the style of pre-European Colorado prairie. It is composed mostly of grasses and forbes, including many species that are not commonly seen in urban gardens.
Garden 2 surrounds the owners' Passivhaus net-zero energy consumption home. Since purchasing the property in 2018, the owners have been restoring the landscape with native plantings.The lot is on a steep SW facing hill and attendees will need to make a steep climb up the dirt driveway to attend the tour.
Important notes:
- While we love children and pets, these tours are for adults only.
- Supportive footwear is recommended due to the garden terrain.
- Each attendee must register separately.
- Garden addresses, plant lists and additional logistical details will be sent in an email a few days prior to the tour.
