Silent Poker Run Rules

  • All individuals participating in this event must pay the Registration Fee and sign the Waiver & Release of Liability form.

All individuals must be wearing an approved lifejacket at all times while on the water.

No alcohol is permitted before or during this event.

Individuals under the age of 15 will participate in collecting a poker hand individually but must be accompanied at all times by an adult in the vessel.

Each passenger, collecting a poker hand, must complete a separate registration form and waiver. Additional passengers in your vessel who are not collecting a poker hand must sign a waiver as well.

All participants collecting a poker hand must collect 5 sealed envelopes (one from each station) to create their final poker hand.

Once the participant has completed the course, they will open the sealed envelopes with a Poker Run Official, who will enter the poker hand onto a score card.

Should participants choose, they may purchase an additional 1 or 2 sealed card envelopes. The cost of each additional envelope is $5.00. The participant now has the option to choose the ‘best’ five cards for their 5 card poker hand.

The winning hand is determined by standard poker hand ratings. Because there are multiple decks being used, duplicates may come into play. In this case, players will re-draw any cards that are duplicates. For example, if you draw the 8 of hearts and you already have the 8 of hearts in your hand, then you will put the card back and re-draw another card.

Additional rules required ‘On the Spot’ will be determined by the officials on hand. All decisions by these officials will be final.

Poker Hand Ratings:   Highest top left moving left to right and lowest bottom right

  • Although it is called a ‘Run’, there are no prizes for speed.  This is not a race and it does not matter who is first to complete the course.
  • The event is open to participants of all ages and levels, and welcomes all non-motorized vessels, such as kayaks and canoes.
  • The Silent Poker Run is a rain or shine event.  In the event of severe weather, the start will remain at 9 am at the Paddling Station, but no water vessels will enter the water.  Instead, sealed envelopes will be distributed among participants and a winning hand will be prized.
  • The Seeley's Bay Red Canoefest Silent Poker Run will take place on Sunday May 29th.  Participants will meet at the Paddling Station (north end of Centennial park), where they will pick up route details and the 5 checkpoints located on various points of the Bay.  At each designated stop, participants will draw a sealed envelope which will be opened once they have completed the course and returned.
  • The winner with the best poker hand will receives their choice of 3 prizes, the 2nd place finisher gets to choose from the remaining 2 prizes and the 3rd place finisher receives the remaining prize.

The prizes will be awarded at the Paddling Station at the completion of the Run.  The silent poker run prizes are:

- 1st Place = Gift Certificate from 1000 Islands Kayaking + 50$
- 2nd Place = Gift Certificate from 1000 Islands Kayaking + 25$
- 3rd Place = Gift Certificate from 1000 Islands Kayaking
