THEME THIS YEAR:

This years theme for the ReCharge Retreat is Redemption: The Story of Us All. Redemption is a theme that runs throughout the whole of scripture. It’s our story as seen in Jesus Christ: through His birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension we have all been redeemed. Alleluia! In the scripture redemption is seen in the story of the Exodus as God rescued God’s people and delivered them out of their bondage and captivity. God’s action then foreshadows our own redemption, through Jesus Christ, from the powers of Sin and Death. We see redemption in the beautiful story of Ruth and Naomi, in Daniel’s story when he is safely delivered out of the lion’s den unharmed, and also as we follow the story of Mary Magdalene in the Gospels. In many of the Psalms we hear the writers’ laments of suffering, the hardship of trials endured, and the grief and sorrow they experienced. In them we also hear the response of our faithful God to God’s people: help in the time of need, deliverance from foes, relief from angst, healing, and restoration. This is the story of God’s people, the story of redemption. This is the story we want to tell and help our young people find themselves in.
