Speaker

Yohualitztli is a Purépecha/Cemanahuac Indigenous mother of two precious jades who inspire and ground her and whom she enjoys homeschooling. She is guided by her elders and walks alongside her Indigenous community. Yohualitztli is a Ticitl, a healer, who is continually making offerings in several mountains as she continues to learn and grow in her field. Her work is grounded in community; she is a birhtworker/doula trained and working with the Birthworkers of Color Collective, a Lactation Educator interning with Breastfeed LA, and a treater of wounds.

She earned her Bachelors of Science in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is a published scientist in the field of Breast Cancer. Her services are focused on supporting Indigenous, Black and People of Color communities during birth, postpartum, loss, lactation and Pilmama, baby carrying. Yohualitztli is an activist, continuing to fight for reproductive justice and strives to work in community to close the gap in services in health care for communities of color. Yohualitztli is fluent both in English and Spanish and provides evidence based and culturally centered support.

Wendy is a native Angeleno born to Guatemalan and Puerto Rican parents. She is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and has a Bachelors in Maternal, Child Health, and Lactation.

She has had the privilege of working with, and supporting her own Native Indigenous/Brown community through their prenatal, postpartum, and lactation period for the past fifteen years, eleven of those as a Lactation Consultant.

Wendy has worked with families throughout Los Angeles in community programs like WIC and Baby Cafe. She has been involved with BreastfeedLA as a volunteer, and more recently as a mentor for their Clinical Lactation Training program. She currently works in two prominent Los Angeles Community Hospitals.

The greatest fulfillment in her work lies in the service of her own Native Indigenous/Brown community, and strives to serve them wholly.

She is also a mother to two lovely ladies who were breastfed for many many magical years. She experiences first hand the power and importance of community while raising her family. She strives to offer and protect this for those she serves
