WWOLF - June 23 at Mahonia Gardens

Willing Workers On Local Farms (WWOLF) is a community program of Central Oregon Locavore Non-Profit with the goal of lending a hand to small farmers while educating the community about the true nature of local food.

How It Works: You will meet the group at Mahonia Gardens in Sisters at 9am. Be sure to go to the garden location on Black Butte Avenue, not the farm stand. After a round of introductions, we will split into groups and get to work. We will finish our day with light lunch of soup, bread and fresh salad from the garden.

What to Expect: Good times, new friends, and a boots-on-the-ground education about local farming practices. We love dogs, but please leave them at home for this event. There will be a wide variety of jobs for all ages and abilities.

What to Bring: Snacks and water, work gloves, closed-toe shoes, layers for the weather, and sunscreen. Soup and bread will be provided for lunch, or bring your own! We will have a hand washing station and sanitizer for participant use.

About Mahonia Gardens: Mahonia Gardens is a one-acre market garden operating is Sisters, Oregon, dedicated to growing quality produce. We provide food to Sisters and Bend. Labor on the farm is done by hand, using ergonomic handtools including broadforks, the wheel hoe, and digging forks to create and maintain beds. While we are not certified organic, we use absolutely no harmful chemicals in our production - no pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or anything. 2022 will be our 10th season as a market farm. We grow around 40 vegetable crops, as well as herbs and flowers. We sell primarily through our farm stand and through Central Oregon Locavore and Agricultural Connections.
