Sault Ste. Marie Invasive Species Workshop

This workshop will cover the identification and management of both aquatic and terrestrial invasive species, with an emphasis on prevalant species in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area. Join us to hear from expert guest speakers and take home resources so you can make a difference in your own day-to-day life.

More Information

This event is geared towards gardeners, anglers and boaters, community stewardship groups, volunteers, and all individuals with an interest in preventing invasive species from entering Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area. You will hear from expert guest speakers on several different species of both terrestrial and aquatic environments, and have the opportunity to ask important questions.

Participants will learn how to identify key invasive species in our area, gain insightful methods on managing species and preventing their spread and introduction. Participants will take home great resources and tools to take a step towards promoting a natural and native environment. We will talk about the importance of making early detections and go over how to report sightings of invasive species.

The day will end with a tour of the Biodiversity Garden at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library. You will get a chance to see what a native garden can look like and learn about the associated benefits that come with having one.

This is a catered event. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions during registration so we can accommodate you. The registration for this event will be capped at 30 participants.

We hope you will walk away with a better understanding of invasives and how to identify them, where to report sightings and where to look for more information.

If you have any questions about the event, please reach out to Derissa Vincentini at dvincentini@invasivespeciescentre.ca.
