ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation

Living Well Beyond Cancer: How to Improve Balance and Reduce Your Risk of Falls

Falls are the most common cause of injury, leading to increased hospital admissions among older adults.  Falls are often associated with adults who have been treated with chemotherapy due to a cancer diagnosis.

Most of these falls, however, are preventable. With a regimented activity level and knowledge to reduce your risks, you can avoid most falls that could lead to injury or hospitalization.

In this session, Cory will discuss:

  • The common causes of falls and how we stay balanced
  • The importance and benefits of exercise and physical activity
  • How you can change your environment to reduce falls
  • Proper equipment aids
  • What to do if you experience a fall

After attendance, participants will:

  • Be able to describe the benefits of improving balance
  • Know signs to watch for to prevent falls
