July Book Club 2022

Please join us and other BBHPMC members for July's book club. Thanks to our gracious host, Lindsay Dawson, we will be meeting in person.
We will be discussing Malcolm Gladwell's book, Talking to Stranger.
If this book is too much for you, it has been recommended to listen to this book, it is much more like a podcast than an audio book.
Other options are listening to Malcolm's short description of the general thesis of the book, here on youtube or here on a shortened podcast version from Oprah's Super Soul.
Regardless, the discussion will center around the theory that prejudging people we don’t know can lead to dangerous consequences. Through well-known cases like the Bernie Madoff scandal, the Amanda Knox trial, the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse trial, and the racially charged arrest and death of Sandra Bland, Malcolm explains his belief that many of us unconsciously invite conflict and misunderstanding into our own lives.
Although not a requirement, most attending moms' club book clubs do attempt to read the book. If you are interested in being more active in book club, feel free to join our private BBHPMC book club facebook page.
Feel free to bring a bottle of wine to share, and/or an appetizer or dessert to pass.

If you are unable to meet on this date or it is already full, on August 10th book club will be meeting to discuss One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle and in September we will be discussing Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. Enjoy some reading over the summer and meet to discuss these novel.
ADVANCE NOTICE: on Thursday, Oct 27th many will attend, Celeste Ng in person discussion of her newest book, Our Missing Hearts. She is the New York Times bestselling author of Everything I Never Told You and Little Fires Everywhere. Her third novel, Our Missing Hearts, will be published in October 2022. Get your tickets here and we can sit together. We will then read her book in November.
