Why You Should Care About Ethical Fundraising

Join us to discuss the most critical aspects of ethical fundraising. You’ll increase your understanding of ethical practices and learn how transparency inspiresdonor confidence. You will be directed to helpful resources to expand your knowledge, and content toshare with colleagues, board members, and donors.

About the Speaker ~ Jenifer Vick, CFRE

Jenifer Vick is an Associate Professor and the Co-director of the Nonprofit Leadership and PhilanthropyCertificate at the University of Iowa. She is responsible for teaching a variety of programmatic courses inperson and online, providing academic advising and career mentorship to students, and managing thecertificate alongside her co-director. Before joining the University of Iowa in 2016, Jenifer began her career as a professional fundraising andcommunication strategist in 2004. Jenifer has dedicated her life to mission-driven work at area nonprofits,raising over $25 million through grant writing, capital campaigns, and annual, major and planned giving.  Feeling fortunate to continue her community-based work while at the University of Iowa, Jenifer hasengaged countless nonprofit community partners to benefit through collaborations with her collegecourses and students. Additionally, Jenifer continues to impact nonprofits through fundraising, boarddevelopment, and grant research and writing under the umbrella of her consulting business. Jenifer achieved Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) status in 2021, a certification indicating the higheststandards of competence and ethical practice in philanthropy. She has been a member of the Association ofFundraising Professionals (AFP) her entire career and served on the AFP Eastern Iowa chapter board forseven years, including two years as president. She is a valued member of multiple community nonprofitboards and committees throughout Iowa. Jenifer was honored to be the recipient of the National Philanthropy Day award as the 2016 Outstanding Fundraising Professional.
