Program Information

Pre-K through Grade 5

Pre-K through Grade 5 classes meet in person on Sunday mornings from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. the Cottage Street Elementary School. Classes are taught by a team of trained and dedicated catechists. During class, students build upon and deepen their faith relationship with Jesus and grow as members of our OLOS family.  Students in Grades PreK-Kindergarten use the "Stories of God's Love" curriculum by publisher RCL Benziger, while students in Grades 1-5 use Benziger's Blest Are We curriculum. Classes are situated between the 8:45 and 11:00 liturgies so that children and their families can attend Mass before or after class.  In forming our children in the faith, it is essential that they experience weekly Mass. The transforming power of Eucharist, where Christ is truly present, cannot be taught in any classroom but must be experienced by each individual as they grow in faith.

If you determine that our plans for Pre-K through Grade 5 Faith Formation will not work well for your family, we are happy to support you in homeschooling your child(ren). Teresa Coda will conduct monthly support meetings via Zoom (on the last Sunday of the month from 8-9 p.m.) for interested parents and can provide resource recommendations as well. If you would like to register for these homeschooling support meetings, discuss your homeschooling plans, or receive resource recommendations, please contact Teresa Coda.

Pre-K through Grade 5 Calendar

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Monthly Meeting: All middle school youth registered for in person faith formation will attend one monthly meeting together on a Sunday evening from 5:00-6:30 PM.

Enrollment in the Sunday session will be capped at 40 students and will be on a first come, first serve basis. If enrollment warrants a second session, a Tuesday evening session from 7:00-8:30 PM will be added. When you register, you will have the opportunity to indicate if your student would like to move to the Tuesday session if the Sunday session is filled.

In lieu of or in addition to in-person faith formation, Middle School students are invited to participate in a zoom discussion group that meets on Sundays weekly (minus weekends when in-person faith formation gathers) from 7-8 p.m. from Oct. 9-December 11. In this 8-session group called "Beatitude Attitude," Middle School students will discover how, as Pope Francis says, "Jesus' Beatitudes are a plan for happiness."

Spiritual and Enrichment Experiences and Service Opportunities are also important aspects of the Middle School Faith Formation Program.  To learn more about the program, click here.
