EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Keith Jones: Keith Jones is the President and CEO of SoulTouchin' Experiences. SoultTouchin' Experiences is an endeavor founded on the belief that in order to build a stronger community, there must be a heart and soul commitment to those who need assistance in order to care for themselves and in turn caring for others. As an African American community activist and entrepreneur with cerebral palsy, and strong advocate for independent qualtiy living in the community, Mr. Jones has participated actively in various issues that face people with disabilities. Mr. Jones is also extremely active in multi-cultural, cross-disability education and outreach efforts.  

FEATURED SPEAKERS: Wally Tablit - Mr. Tablit is the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion officer on the APSE national board of directors, and will share information on APSE's efforts and perspective, and action steps for attendees to consider. Kathleen Walker - Kathleen Walker is Director of Day and Employment Services for the MA Department of Develomental Services (DDS). She will provide an update on DDS's efforts to advance employment and diversityh.

WORLD CAFE': Attendees will participate in a World Cafe' where we will all network and share ideas, thoughts, challenges, and opportunities regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion, and brainstorm together on how our service systems and communities can better respond to the employment needs of all members of our communities.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS: There will be 6 breakout sessions on a variety of topics related to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Topics include:
1. Building Effective Transition Services in a Diverse Community
2. Developing Cultural Competency as an Employment Specialist
3. Beyond DEI: Building an Anti-Racist Culture in the Workplace
4. Working with Families from Diverse Cultures and the Impact on Job Development
5. Building Equity in Policies and Programs for People of Color
6. Power of 5: A Series of 5-Minute Presentations on Employment and Diversity
