The Delta Studies Institute begins with a full-day bus tour of the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta Region. You will learn about salmon restoration efforts and water conversation at Cross Channel Gates, delta restoration, and climate change impacts on California's water and carbon sequestration project at Twitchell Island. You will also visit Big Break Regional Shoreline and learn about the human impact on the Sacramento and San Joaquin watershed. At our second meeting, you will learn about NGSS implementation strategies and Delta Resources in order to prepare your lessons. We will return in May to share projects/lessons.
Required dates:
November 5, 2022, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Location: Wentworth Education Center. Delta bus tour with lunch included.
November 9, 2022, 4:30pm - 7:30pm, Location: VIrutal Meeting. Delta Resources and NGSS implementation strategies.
May 10, 2023, 4:30pm - 7:30pm, Location: Virtual meeting. Project sharing.
Participation fee: $15
At the completion of the program you will receive:
Stipend $250
Opportunity to purchase One Unit from TCSJ ($75)
