Description: The tripartite relationship exists between an insurer, its insured, and defense counsel retained by the insurer. The tripartite relationship is a unique situation that every claims representative and insurance-appointed counsel must be familiar with in order to properly and ethically represent an insured client. This presentation will explore multiple aspects of the relationship, including privilege issues, coverage matters, potential conflicts of interest, and the practical impacts and concerns that arise during insurance defense litigation.
