Welcome Our Special Guest Kevin Skidmore

Owner of Four Forty Trucking

"Changing Lives One Mile At A Time."

Today, Kevin Skidmore is the owner of Four Forty Trucking. Thanks to a second chance.

In 1995, at the age of 16, Skidmore was convicted of armed robbery. Under a new law enacted the year before (Senate Bill 440), he was tried as an adult and sentenced to 10 years in the Georgia Penal System.

Although serving time at such a young age could have had a negative impact on his life, Skidmore was determined to change his life for the better. He sought improvement and educational opportunities within the prison walls.

Upon his release in 2005, he set out to get a job and make something of himself. After contacting the Trojan Battery Company near Lithonia, GA dozens of times, they finally agreed to hire him. He took advantage of this second chance to become a star employee and begin building his skills in business management, customer service, and innovation.

He took these new talents and became the Founder and Owner of Four Fourty Trucking LLC. As a reminder of how far he had come, he chose to name his company after the Georgia law (440) that sent him to prison—and ultimately changed his life.

Skidmore created Four Fourty Trucking to be a top-notch provider of services for his customers. He also made a point to create ways to give back to the community by consistently offering newly released citizens a stable job and a compassionate place to work.

Not only is he committed to giving previously convicted individuals a second chance, but makes an investment in each of his employees. He hires the most committed and hardworking. Then he ensures each person he hires goes through rigorous and extensive training and education. This guarantees his clients only the best trucking services. It also helps each employee grow personally.

Skidmore is continuously discovering new ways to serve his community and to further enhance the lives of those who are newly released. With 20 years of experience in the trucking industry, he also serves as a Co-Chair of the Dekalb County Department of Community Supervision. He is a member of the Offender Alumni Association (OAA) and a facilitator of the Adults Committed to Empowerment and Success (ACES) organization. In addition, he is a member of the Metro Atlanta Reentry Coalition (MARC) and is a proud partner with FirstStep Staffing as the Georgia Piedmont Technical College Industry Partner.
