American Corporate Governance: Stakeholders or Stockholders?

Join us Wednesday, November 9th, at 6:00 PM for Pioneer Institute's 2022 Lovett C. Peters Lecture and Annual Dinner, American Corporate Governance: Stakeholders or Stockholders?

The 2022 Peters Lecturer is successful entrepreneur and investor Vivek Ramaswamy, author of Woke, Inc., a provocative and riveting critique of the entanglement of business in an increasingly politicized world. We invite you to join us and engage in one of the most critical conversations facing our country with Pioneer’s community of supporters from the realms of finance, bioscience, management, healthcare, law, media, and more.

Tickets are $250 each and support Pioneer's research and advocacy. If you would like to be a part of this event, be sure to reserve your seat now, as it is first-come, first-served—and remember: there is the option to enhance your support of Pioneer by sponsoring a table or making a leadership gift toward the evening. Once you sign up, we will send you everything you need to attend!

As American society has entered a season of troubling political tension and protests, many business leaders have extended their duties from shareholder interests to stakeholder capitalism, or what some term corporate social responsibility. The most explicit example of this is in the technology sector, but the pressures are present in corporate boardrooms across America. Does the growing interdependence between business and politics threaten America’s democratic form of government?

In his book, Woke, Inc., Ramaswamy combines experience in the corporate boardroom and analysis to disentangle the motivations of business executives, who wade deeply into politics, social debates and the very nature of American capitalism.

Named for Pioneer’s founder and long-time chairman, Lovett C. “Pete” Peters, the annual Peters Lecture recognizes individuals distinguished by their enrichment of the intellectual climate and their tangible achievements and contributions to society.
