Taking Control of Conflict

When most people think of their jobs, conflict probably (hopefully) isn't the first thing that comes to mind.  Some have found themselves complaining about working with a colleague who is particularly stubborn or bossy or replaying an encounter with their supervisor that left him/her feeling frustrated.  Most people have been involved in some form of conflict in the workplace, its extent ranging from mild disagreements to explosive standoffs.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define workplace conflict.
  • Identify their preferred strategy for handling workplace conflict.
  • Understand pros and cons of each strategy.
  • Recognize the most common sources of workplace conflict.
  • Understand the structure of conflict and what not to do.
  • Address issues before they escalate.
