Teaching As Christian Vocation

SCS is proud to present "Teaching as Christian Vocation," a one day power packed conference designed to equip and support San Diego educators. With insightful messages by top plenary speakers, Dr. Gene Edward Veith Jr. and Dr. Gino Pasquareillo and 8 exciting breakout sessions presented by SCS Faculty. The day provides great ecouragement and growth opportunites for the Christian educator. Enjoy a continental breakfast, lunch, networking opportunities and training resources.

Registration is $149.00 with an early bird special of $99.00 if registration is paid by January 31. For special group rates of 5 or more email dean@socalsem.edu.  

ASCI approved CE units are also available at an additional cost of $10.00.

   

 

Plenary Speaker
Dr. Gene Edward Veith Jr.

Gene Edward Veith Jr., is a writer and a retired literature professor.  He is Provost Emeritus at Patrick Henry College and the Director of the Cranach Institute at Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  He previously served as Culture Editor of WORLD MAGAZINE and Professor of English and Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at Concordia University Wisconsin. He is the author of over 20 books, including Postmodern Times: A Christian Guide to Contemporary Thought and Culture, The Spirituality of the Cross: The Way of the First Evangelicals, Classical Education, and God at Work: Your Christian Vocation in All of Life.

Dr. Veith was born in Oklahoma in 1951. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1973 and received a Ph.D. in English from the University of Kansas in 1979.  He was given an honorary doctorate from Concordia Theological Seminary in 2005 and from Concordia University California in 2014.  He has taught at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and was a Visiting Professor at Wheaton College, Gordon College, and Regent College (Vancouver).  He was also a Visiting Lecturer at the Estonian Institute of Humanities in Tallinn, Estonia. He and his wife Jackquelyn have three grown children and twelve grandchildren.  They live in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Dr. Gino Pasquariello

Dr. Gino Pasquariello is the Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Southern California Seminary, El Cajon, CA.  He also serves as professor of research, education, and Biblical studies. Dr. Pasquariello received his Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Bethel Seminary, Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Azusa Pacific University, and Doctor of Ministry degree from Southern California Seminary. His research emphases include transformative learning, theological education and Christian formation, and applied theology for ministry.

He is a contributing author in the ECPA award-winning Dictionary of Christian Spirituality (2011), the three-volume Encyclopedia of Christian Education (2015), the multi-volume Encyclopedia of Christianity in the United States (2016), and Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment in Theological Higher Education (Fall 2020 release). Dr. Pasquariello has over 35 years of pastoral, teaching, and leadership experience, and is an accomplished musician and worship leader.
