Living in ACES Shadow with Jonny Gieber, CADC II, MS

Please join us for the upcoming training on Wednesday, April 19th for Living in ACES Shadow with Jonny Gieber, CADC II, MS.

All proceeds go towards the Al Forthan Scholarship.

Cost: $110 for full day

This training can be used to meet the 6 hour Ethics training required for recertification for CADCs and CRMs.

Living in ACES Shadow: The Ethical Imperative of addressing your own childhood trauma in order to help you potentially extend your life span and the life span of the clients you serve.

Featuring: Jonny Gieber, MS, CADC II

When: 8:30am-3:30pm

Purpose

In the original Adverse Child Experiences Survey (ACES) 6.5% of the study participants had an ACES score of 4 or higher.  In class after class of people I have encountered who are in the addiction counseling arena, anywhere from 60% to 90% report an ACES score of 4 or higher! Only 3% of individuals who had an ACE score of 4 or higher in the original study lived longer than age 65.  People with an ACES score of 6 or higher lost 20 years off their life span! Denial of the implications of an elevated ACES score can result in issues of counter-transference with the people we serve.  If we don’t address this issue for ourselves, we will not be able to “see” or help our clients address this issue for themselves. The lives we live, the model our own behaviors offer, deeply effect the people we work with and the people we serve.

Training Objectives:

 1. Determine your own ACES score and the implication it has for your life span.

 2. Understand the dynamics of counter-transference related to Childhood Trauma and how it can affect your work with the people you serve.

 3. Assess your current behaviors and how they may be impacting your life span.

 4. Learn strategies and tools that you can use yourself and with the people you serve, to address your ACES increased vulnerabilities.
