Join us for a conversation on personal safety and security in the workplace. Dr. Mary Beth Janke has over 30 years of psychology, security, and investigative experience. This includes years as a Special Agent in the Washington Field Office of the United States Secret Service. As a psychologist, Dr. Janke has worked with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment challenges, trauma, women’s issues, and substance abuse. She has also conducted research and published work in the areas of stalking and domestic violence, self-esteem and young women, and stress management.

This webinar will talk about the differences between responding and reacting and will educate and empower you to respond more and react less.

Virtual Trainer: Dr. Mary Beth Janke

Dr. Janke holds a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Widener University and a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Indiana University along with a minor in Spanish Language, following intensive studies at the Universidad de Sevilla.

Dr. Janke currently works as a consultant in the fields of forensic and clinical psychology and continues to consult in the areas of threat assessment and protective security. She is the Director of Special Projects for Hunter Global Security Strategies, an international security and investigative firm. Additionally, Dr. Janke taught Abnormal Psychology and the Psychology of Crime and Violence at the George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff. Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.

Florida’s LSTA and LCG programs are administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2022-23, the total state and federal budgets for NEFLIN's programs are $688,109. 42% of the total costs ($288,109) are supported by federal funds, and 58% of this program ($400,000) is supported by state funds.
