Reflections from a Candidate after the retreat:

“As the 20+ hours begins to melt deeper into my body, soul, and heart, I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone for a great experience.  You were all so generous with your time, and with your love.  How do you thank someone for a gift like that?  I can’t even begin to put thoughts to paper.  So, I will borrow the words of the great Van Morrison:

“Whenever God shines His light on me  Opens up my eyes so I can see  When I look up in the darkest night  I know everything’s going to be alright  In deep confusion, in great despair  When I reach out for Him he is there  When I am lonely as I can be  I know that God shines His light on me.” God Shines His Light – Van Morrison

It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be; it was even better!  It gave me the chance to understand the role God has played in my life. – FD

My family was going through some rough times, I was irritable, moody and didn’t really turn to the Church during this hard time.  Cornerstone helped and continues to help, it has made a difference. – PL

I am not a Holy roller, I believed in God, but never really thought about it much.  He was just there.  Cornerstone restored my faith and gave me an understanding that I didn’t have before. – SC

After 9/11, I went through a really difficult time in my life.  I was angry and could not let go.  With Cornerstone, I discovered certain things and found a peace I did not have before. – TL

I thought Cornerstone would be a bunch of men sitting around praying and reading the Bible; I was wrong.  Cornerstone was enlightening, encouraging and simply one of the best things I have ever done. – EC

Men's Cornerstone Retreat 2023

A 26-hour event for men to take a pause from their life, and reflect on where they came from and where they are going.

Cornerstone is a 26-hour event for men, which begins at 7pm on Friday and ends at 9pm Saturday and is held in the Parish Center at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Ridgewood, NJ.  Cornerstone provides an opportunity to learn more about your relationship with God and how he has and continues to have a role in your life.  This retreat can help provide you with a greater understanding of your faith.  It is not a Bible study group and is not what you may envision.  Give it a try; you will not regret it.  Meals are provided for the duration of the event.

Who conducts the Cornerstone retreat?

Cornerstone is conducted by team members who are volunteers and members of the parish who have attended Cornerstone in the past.  The men who serve on team have experienced Cornerstone first hand and can provide insight during the course of the retreat.

What can I expect during the retreat?
You can expect an opportunity to:

  • Relax and Retreat from everyday life
  • Refocus on what is important in your life
  • Reflect and remember on the blessing in life
  • Restore and Renew your faith in God

It is also a time to just meet others who may be experiencing the same challenges that you are.  It is a very relaxed atmosphere with good food, good laughs and an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.

How are we accommodating for COVID 19?

  • OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS: Retreat candidates are encouraged to get the full benefit of the experience (distance from the everyday to slow down and allow for different insights and perspectives)  by sleeping at the parish center. If for physical or health reasons you need to sleep at home, please indicate this on your registration form.
  • The retreat will follow the current protocols of the Archdiocese of Newark.

To confirm your spot, click the registration button below and complete the online form.  A $100* registration fee covers the cost for four catered meals and supplies for this overnight experience.
