Ballona Creek Cleanup

Roll up your sleeves to help the Friends restore the last coastal wetland in Los Angeles by removing trash from the Ballona Creek Estuary.

Meet us in the dirt parking lot behind Gordon's Market / Alka Water. Please be sure to arrive on time as the gate will be locked 5 minutes after the beginning of the event. Minors age 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult guardian. This event is not recommended for children under the age of 7.

Registration: Registration is required. You must also sign the digital waiver.

Ages: Activities are recommended for ages 7 and up. Youths 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

What to wear: Close-toed shoes are required! We recommend dressing in weather-appropriate layers that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, along with a hat.

What to bring: Please bring your own full water bottle. There are no water fountains on site. We will provide all other tools and supplies, but you are welcome to bring your own gloves and trash bags.

Arrive on time: The Ecological Reserve gates are locked during all Saltwater Marsh events and late arrivals will find themselves locked out.

Covid-19 Protocols: We recommend that unvaccinated volunteers wear a mask.

Cancellations: For safety, we must cancel if it’s raining. Please check the weather before arriving. If you’re not sure, please call us or check our social media for cancellation announcements.

Donations: The suggested donation is $5 per person. By donating online or at our events, you can keep helping with cleanup even after you leave! Free tours and community service events are made possible by the efforts and donations of kindhearted people just like you.
