Roof Technology and Science II is a 16-hour course and the second course of a two-part series covering, in detail, aspects of the technology and science of roofing. Highlights of the program include:

  • Fundamentals of single-ply, polyurethane foam, and PMR roof systems
  • Basic concepts and terminology of metal roofing
  • Steep roof design and installation of asphalt shingles, tiles, wood shakes, and shingles
  • Building codes, fire testing/ratings of roofing
  • Basic understanding of wind interaction upon roofing
  • Principles of roof asset management, including roof inspections, maintenance, and nondestructive evaluations
This course is designed to provide individuals of differing backgrounds with relevant information about roofing technology and design. The chapters vary in intensity, from basic roofing concepts to advanced specific-application principles and theory.

Burt Carver, Owner of Apex Building Sciences

Burt is the Owner of Apex Building Sciences Inc. founded in 2008. He has been involved in the building enclosure sector since 1998. In that time he worked in a variety of sectors including restoration, new construction, and asset management. As one of his roles his focus has been the assessment and remediation of building enclosures.  At IIBEC he has been involved with the RRO Exam Committee, the RRC Exam Committee, the Chapter Development Committee and also the Advocacy Committee. He is currently the Western Canada Regional Director and is a Past President of the Western Canadian Chapter of IIBEC.

Peter Saunders, Director, Building Science & Technical Service, Henry Canada

Peter has been a member of the Henry Canada team since 1990. The first part of his tenure, Peter worked as a Henry Technical Service Representative where he spent his time reviewing application on construction sites and training contractors on product application. In 2010, Peter joined the management team where he leads Building Science & Technical Services across Canada. Peter has always been involved with new product development and field verifies products in real life situations before they go to market. Peter has been an IIBEC member & RRO since 2007.

Cancellation Policy

  • Should you wish to cancel your registration, refunds will be issued up to two weeks prior to the event and a $25 administrative fee will apply.  After that time, no refunds will be permitted.  "No Shows" will not receive a refund, however, substitutions are permitted.
  • Should IIBEC Quebec Ontario Chapter cancel the course, we will notify you before February 15th and a full refund will be issued.
