8 Foot Picture Window

What is a Picture Window?

8 Foot Picture Window, Picture windows are typically large windows that have a single pane of glass that is not broken up by any lines, can not be opened, and are often found in living rooms. They offer a nice clear view of the outdoors that is not split or altered in any way. When you want to create the illusion of an indoor/outdoor space, picture windows can let in a great deal of sunlight and connect your indoor living space with your natural outside surroundings.

There is no better way to admire nature from within your home than to look at it through a massive picture window. Install an expansive picture window and make the outside view a focal point for your home.

Replacement Picture Window Costs

The average cost for a replacement picture window installation is $420 to $760 per window + labor costs which can average around $38 per hour depending on your local window installers average price. See local window prices below.

When you compare picture window costs with double hung windows or casement windows of the same size, you will often find that picture windows are more affordable. This is generally because it does not have all the moving parts that other windows have. The simple design is what makes the window so beautiful, but it also makes it more affordable.

If you need to get an estimate on picture window costs or the cost of other window types for your home, it is best to use a Window Replacement Cost Calculator to get an idea of what to expect.

How to Get an 8' Wide Picture Window?

I'd like to put an 8' wide picture window in the back of my den. It seems that the largest window that any manufacturer makes is a 6' window (although they can mull separate windows together, but there would be the ugly mull line.) As it stands, I will probably go with a 1'-6'-1' mulled window so at least I have the middle be as large as posible.

Any ideas? I suppose I could get a custom window, but it has been my experience than when window manufacturers hear "custom", they also hear 2-3x the price!

Picture Window Sizes

The most common widths for picture windows are 2 ft, 3 ft, 4 ft, 6 ft, and 8 feet wide. Standard picture window heights can range from 1 foot to as tall as 8 feet. Large picture windows can run as big as 72 inches in height and width.
