Recent Developments in Charitable Giving

Luncheon Program

January 19, 2023 - 12:00 PM-1:15 PM PDT

Program Description

Join us for NCPGC’s annual review of new laws, recent cases, and topical issues in charitable gift planning. The presentation will be a "Year in Review" from a lawyer's perspective, covering the big cases, rulings, and news stories that have impacted gift planning or may change the way we do things in the future. Karl will break down the major developments, including major cases involving donor-advised funds, charitable remainder trusts, and gifts of complex assets, and highlighting what practitioners and gift planners need to know. The presentation will also preview potential legislation or cases that might impact donors or gift planners in 2023

Presented by Karl Mill

Mill Law Center advises a broad range of non-profit organizations, including everything from innovative start-ups to some of the largest, most established foundations and charities across the country. Karl's philosophy is to apply his years as a lawyer and educator to provide clear, actionable legal advice and support to non-profits. Karl's areas of expertise include private foundations, public charities, impact investment, social enterprise, and charitable gift planning.

Prior to founding Mill Law Center, Karl Mill was a partner at a boutique law firm serving non-profits and their donors. Karl graduated from Columbia Law School in 2013, and practiced trust, estate, and tax law for several years at DLA Piper.
