ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

This workshop is ideal for staff who are new to the international education sector or returning after a break.  The session will help participants understand more fully the place of the sector in Australia’s education and industry settings as well as gain specific knowledge to help better understand a very complex sector:

SPEAKERS:

Chantelle Dawkins, Manager, Strategy and Stakeholder Relations at Department of Training and Workforce Development

Chantelle has worked in the international education sector in Western Australia for the past 25 years. Chantelle has extensive experience working across the Schools, ELICOS and VET Sector in WA.

Having been employed for TAFE International Western Australia during this time, Chantelle has held various roles across all business areas, with a long period spent in customer service and admissions. Currently Chantelle is working as the Manager, Strategy and Stakeholder Relations. This role works closely with the TIWA Sales and Marketing teams and is responsible for business partner relationships, regional programs, agent familiarisation tours and student experience across the TAFE Colleges and Government Schools in Western Australia.

Chantelle is passionate about international education and welcoming international students into life in Western Australia and assisting with their education goals.

 

Richard Geddes, Managing Director, Optimal Student Recruitment

Richard Geddes was born and raised in Malawi, Central Africa.

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Malawi, he worked for several years in Malawi and the UK.

In 2003, Richard came to Australia as an international student, where he studied for and graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree from Edith Cowan University.

Between 2004 and 2018, Richard worked in various senior positions managing domestic and international student recruitment for Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, and the University of Adelaide. His roles had a strong focus on the development and implementation of effective and efficient student recruitment strategies.

Richard is now the Founder and Managing Director of Optimal Student Recruitment Pty Ltd, a consultancy firm that specialises in helping universities, higher education institutions, VET Providers and ELICOS centres with their student recruitment strategies and capability.
