“How might we reincorporate some of our past relationships into our present lives? What might that make possible?”
-Barbara Myerhoff
This one-day workshop will invite each of us to use narrative ideas with ourselves and others to re-start, re-invigorate, re-collect, re-cover, and re-member relationships. The practices and exercises will help align you with your preferred self in relation to important people to you. The workshop will also cover ideas to help develop re-membering practices to use in your work with people and their relationships.
This day of re-membering will be about relationships that matter to us. For some it will be a day honoring Steve Gaddis. But this day is not about just Steve. It is about you deciding who the precious people and relationships might be that have shaped your identity in preferred ways. Here is a taste of some of what this day will cover:
We will explore these possibilities through writing prompts utilizing re-membering practices, sharing stories, and building resonance together. In this season of NTI honoring Steve Gaddis, one hope in offering this workshop is to create an opportunity, for those who wish, to engage in writing practices that help re-member Steve in preferred ways, alongside others in community.
Please bring with you or have available your writing materials of choice (pen & paper, journal, Ipad, etc).
This training will be a live, interactive hybrid event using the Zoom web conferencing platform and an in person option. This training will be live streamed and recorded for NTI archives. By registering, you agree to be a participant in a live-streaming event that will be recorded for archive purposes only. No segments of this training will be made available via video or audio. If NTI utilizes this recording in the future, all participant activity will be deleted and/or explicit permission will be obtained before any such segments are released.
Registration Fees:
For this event, we will use a “consensual payment” approach. If you have the financial resources, we ask that you pay $125 to attend this event. Doing so supports those with fewer financial resources the ability to participate and benefit from what we have to offer. If you don’t have the resources to pay the full fee, we invite you to pay whatever you feel is possible given your particular situation, including paying nothing. We trust that whatever you are able to pay reflects your current financial status.

Presenter Bio: Sarah Beth Hughes, BSW, MSc
I was a good friend of Steve Gaddis's even though I only knew him for a few years. Steve initiated a connection with me and then he followed up and offered projects to work on together. Steve taught me that relaionships require intentional actions to nurture and grow intimate relationships. After Steve died, I wanted to continue that kind of intention in my relationship with him and keep it active, keep him as my writing partner and keep his way of seeing the world, and seeing me, alive in me. I will travel from the small hippy town nestled in the mountains of British Colombia where I live and work, to bring some of the re-membering writing practices I use to the NTI community. I hope to offer some ways to connect with Steve and other important people to you. I am excited to learn more about Steve through your stories and see how we, together, can keep his passion about the narrative worldview alive.
My loving relationship with Narrative Therapy began over 25 years ago, as I worked and travelled with Michael White as the bookseller for Dulwich Centre Publications. I may be wrong on this, but I like to think I have attended more Michael White trainings than anyone else in the world. Well, at least in North America. I have offered workshops on narrative practices in Canada and the US, am a NTI faculty member and part of the board and faculty of Re-Authoring Teaching. I am currently writing a book tentatively called Tender Therapy. It is part memoir, part therapy ideas, and part writing prompts. I am also working with Ashley Gaddis on completing Steve's book.
