CITs are the heart of our camp. They may be previous campers who have spent summers under our trees, swimming, boating, crafting and experiencing the magic of Camp Gold Hollow. They also may be teens new to our program who want to experience our outdoor activities and improve their leadership skills. Our commitment is helping teens “find their spark” and THRIVE in a safe and caring outdoor environment.
Camp Gold Hollow offers outdoor experiences such as canoeing, cooking, arts & crafts, archery, hiking, games, and swiimming. Campers sleep outdoors on cots with mattresses on a platform with their counselor and cabin group friends. Nutritious meals are served family style in an outdoor setting.
CITs get to experience all of these either as part of their CIT unit under the guidance of a dedicated CIT director, or by assisting with their assigned camper group. CITs can expect to help with song leading, games, camper chores (kapers), meal supervision, and general activities. The CIT unit will plan and implement an All Camp Event on last day of Resident camp – a camp favorite for our campers. Electronic devices are put down and days are spent developing leadership skills, experiencing new adventures and building lifelong friendships.
Resident campers leave on the morning of July 16th but CIT training will continue. Sunday July 17th will be family day for CITs – parents/guardians/siblings are invited to come spend the day with their CIT to experience the fun of Camp Gold Hollow.
July 18-21 will be Day Camp at Gold Hollow for local youth ages 5-12. CITs will put into action the leadership skills learned the previous week by either being junior counselors or assisting in program areas each day. Evenings activities will be spent with their CIT unit.
Safety considerations: All staff and campers will need to show proof of negative COVID test within 24 hours of arrival at camp. All of our activities are in outdoor settings except bath houses.
