Dan Quinlan is on a journey as a mystic-in-training at the Center for Action and Contemplation’s Living School. He's also a husband, and a father of two ambitious soon-to-be physicians. As Lumunos' Business and Operations Director, he works hard to find sustainable avenues for bringing our services to a wider audience. In his "spare" time, you'll find him fighting for policy change to address climate change, playing soccer, or backcountry skiing down the slopes in Vermont. He can be reached at dan@lumunos.org.

Betsy Perry describes herself as a reluctant mystic on an inner journey in the midst of everyday life. A wife, mother, grandmother, and retiree, Betsy has freedom to pursue her inner journey as a Spiritual Director and as a Kundalini Yoga Instructor. Her background as a nurse, teacher, and health care administrator informs her work now in retirement. Betsy is a former staff member of Lumunos. She can be reached at whatmatters.souljourney@gmail.com.

Mystics for Everyday Living

(A Monthly Drop-In Online Event)

Facilitated by Dan Quinlan and Betsy Perry

Mysticism for Ordinary People: What Does It Look Like and How Do I Know I Might Be On a Mystical Path?

The Lumunos Mystic Series has explored important mystics and their teachings that can bring love and light into our lives and connect us with ancestral wisdom. As our benchmark, we have used Mirabai Starr’s definition of a mystic—an ordinary person who: 1) hears the call both to turn inward and to step up; 2) cultivates a contemplative life; and 3) offers the fruits in service to others.

In our next mystic session, we will explore these three components as they operate in our own lives. You’ll have a chance to explore your questions, doubts, knowings, and insights about your own mystical path: Am I on a mystical path? How would I know it? What changes happen in life if I turn inward and step up? Using the teachings of current day mystics such as Richard Rohr, Matthew Fox, Mirabai Starr, Jerry Wright, and James Finley, we’ll explore mysticism from an evolving psychological understanding.

The Mystics Series is a monthly drop-in online event exploring the wisdom of the mystics and how that wisdom might help us in our spiritual journeys. Each month we'll look at the life and ideas of a different mystic. Together we will learn, reflect, and connect, providing opportunities to better understand our own journey towards wholeness.
