Printmaking Open Studios

Artworks Printmaking Open Studio is designed specifically for individuals working at advanced levels in printmaking and offers facilities for woodblock, linoleum block, relief, silkscreen, monoprint, embossing, collagraph and letterpress. The Printmaking Studio is available for individual and small group rental. Monthly rates can also be arranged. Technical assistance is available by appointment. Participants are expected to be able to function independently with regard to their own work. They are also expected to perform the technical tasks necessary to the operation of the studio as a whole, such as maintaining proper cleanliness and care of equipment, and will be given an initial introduction to the health and safety procedure.  Studio users must be familiar with equipment and printing processes

Artists will have use of press, equipment and tools. Ink, paper, and other materials are not included.

 

Equipment:

* Charles Brand Press (28" x 48" bed)

* Cutler Hammer Electric Press (28" x 48" bed)

* Dolan Woodblock Press (16” x 24” bed)

* Vandercook Letterpress Proof Press (15” x 32” bed)

* X-Vactor Exposure Unit with analog timer

* Washout Booth with pressure washer

* Brayers in all sizes

* Flat files and drying racks

 

Hours:

11-530, Tue, Wed , & Sat

 

Rates:

Monthly - $150 per month

Weekly - $50 per week

Daily - $25 per day

 

Studio time needs to be scheduled in advance, during office hours, on a first come, first serve basis. These hours are subject to change. Extended hours with a monitor are available in certain circumstances but must be scheduled beforehand. Studio rental is not available on Sundays or Mondays, when a workshop is in session, during holidays when Artworks is closed, or during Art All Night weekend.

*Artworks is closed for Memorial Day Weekend, Art All Night weekend, Fourth of July Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, Christmas through New Year’s Day.

2. Send up to three digital images and a resume/CV to gallery@artworkstrenton.org .    Image files must be 300dpi, no larger than 2MB.  Image name must include the artist’s last name.

Printmakers may join on a space available basis.  A waiting list is maintained for those persons desiring to join the Open Studio program who have demonstrated that they possess the technical ability to function independently in the studio.  Fee will be due upon acceptance to the program.
