4-Part Series:  Why #ASL G-L-O-S-S?

This four class workshop is an introduction to glossing as one of several “written systems” in ASL.  While deaf people are bilinguals, they read and write in English.  Since ASL is a three dimensional language in constant motion,  it is not easy to translate into a written system. Additionally, ASL grammar is conveyed mostly through non-manual signals.  These challenges mean glossing is used only as a tool to transcribe and analyze.  It is also very effective in improving one’s signing. You will be learning glossing transcription symbols and using them to transcribe a short video at your mastery level.  You will see how glossing may be used as a supplement for your child to learn English and raise them as strong bilinguals. JOIN-US WILL FUN!
