A.K. Smiley Public Library's "Southern California in Film" series continues on Saturday, September 16th at 2pm with a screening of Double Indemnity at the Contemporary Club.
A film noir classic, Double Indemnity tells a story of seduction and murder in late 1930s Los Angeles. Filmed throughout Southern California, such famous locales as Olvera Street’s La Golondrina Café, the Venice canals, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, and Glendale Station are featured. Adapted from a novel by James M. Cain, Double Indemnity was written by director Billy Wilder and famed novelist Raymond Chandler and came to be nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.
This film is not rated. Registration is requested, but not required. No admission is charged for film screenings, thanks to the generous contributions of donors to the library.
