 SPEAKER PROFILES

Flint Rucker is a rancher from Barber County who will tell about two times in his life he heard a dry-fire click from the gun of someone trying to kill him. The first time (40 years ago) prepared him mentally for the next incident which many area folks heard about on July 21st, 2018. Flint has never spoken publicly about that day. His story compels us to consider the reality of danger even in rural areas.

Carl Chinn was also directly involved in two significant deadly incidents – both of which were at faith-based organizations. He spoke to Pratt area residents in January of 2018 about details of those incidents. Chinn has now moved back to Pratt and starting a series of teaching and training events here. He remains President of the Faith-Based Security Network (FBSN), headquartered in Colorado now operated from Pratt, KS.

Michael Blackford is the senior pastor for the Pratt Free Methodist Church and Chaplain for the Pratt County Sheriff's Office and the FBSN. Michael will present some of the many risks to children in churches and other issues pastors face with criminal activities creeping into the faith-based community.

Joy Schwartz is with the DCCCA (a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with the mission to provide social and community services that improve the safety, health and well-being of the communities they serve). DCCCA developed the slogan – Developing Caring Communities Committed to Action – which describes their myriad programs. Joy will present on the current Opioid (most specifically, Fentanyl) epidemic and ways the community can help.

Verna Cooper is with U.S. LawShield – the nationally known organization that provides legal defense for self-defense. If you use a weapon of any kind to defend yourself or others, the chances of a lawsuit against you are very likely. If you feel the responsibility to protect others, you must also have someone protecting you in today’s litigious culture.

As a benefit to attending the Saturday training, Carl Chinn and his brother (former Pratt County Sheriff, Vernon Chinn) will conduct tactical firearms training in the weeks following the Saturday presentations. This training is available for no extra charge for anyone serving their faith-based organization in a security, safety or ministry leadership role. Details and scheduling program will be presented at the Saturday 3/18/23 event. This training will be conducted at either an inside range (provided by Shooter’s Corner) or an outdoor tactical range (exclusive to faith-based security operations) 20 miles southwest of Pratt, where advanced drills will be taught.

Seating is limited, so don’t delay. Click below to register.
