A Comfortable Path to Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist

Please join us as Dr. Joseph Chen guides us through a comfortable path to oral pathology.

Dr. Joseph Chen received his BA in biology from Johns Hopkins University, then his DDS from University of Maryland School of Dentistry.  Following dental school, he furthered his training with a general practice residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Monmouth, NJ.  Dr. Chen started his career as a full-time general practitioner for fifteen years before changing career paths and becoming an educator.  He has been a member of the faculty at Fortis College Landover Dental Hygiene team since 2017. At Fortis, he has worn many hats including supervising dentist, adviser, and classroom instructor for head and neck anatomy, embryology/ histology/ dental anatomy, nutrition, pharmacology, oral pathology, local anesthesia/nitrous oxide sedation, and board review.  In January 2023, he became a member of the Howard Community College Dental Hygiene program as one of the supervising dentists.  In his classes, he utilizes his clinical experience to make course material relatable and more fun. Dr. Chen is a father of four.  His hobbies include classical music, playing the violin, and golfing.
