The Disability and Communication Access Board is pleased to announce the Hawaii Outdoor Developed Areas Accessibility Guidelines (HODAAG) Virtual  Training presented by DCAB's Facility Access Specialist, Eric Isidro. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Trails
  • Camping Facilities
  • Picnic Facilities
  • Viewing Areas
  • Beach Access Routes

In 2013, the U.S. Access Board issued new accessibility standards for outdoor developed areas, including trails, beach access routes, picnic and camping areas, on federal sites covered by the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA). The U.S. Access Board also published a guide to assist designers, owners, and operators in the use of these standards. On January 7, 2017 DCAB's document review process implemented the use of the HODAAG.

This session will provide an overview of the standards for outdoor developed areas, highlighting some of the material in the guide.
