Optimizing Microbial Corrosion Mitigation through Applied Molecular Microbiology
Microbial Insights is pleased to invite you to an interactive workshop bringing together leaders in applied molecular microbiology and corrosion control.

Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) is a complex damage mechanism that results in significant operating costs for pigging and cleaning programs, biocide and other chemical treatment, repairs, releases to the environment, and ongoing monitoring of microbiological conditions. Over the past decade, the use of molecular microbiological methods (MMM) such as ATP measurement, qPCR and next generation sequencing has gradually increased in the oil and gas industry, yet practical guidance on interpreting and applying MMM results from corrosion monitoring and control is limited. At the same time, operators today are under increasingly intense pressure to reduce costs, including corrosion mitigation and monitoring expenses. This workshop will bring together experts from the fields of molecular microbiology and corrosion control in an interactive exchange with industry stakeholders who are seeking justifiable ways to optimize mitigation costs based on state-of-the-art methods for diagnosing MIC and the effectiveness of mitigation.
