The morning sessions will highlight the work of the NDDC and its National Action Plan priorities featuring discussions on its most recent report releases; Distracted Driving Prevalence Data: Sources, Challenges & Technological Solutions and How Technology Can Help Reduce Driver Distraction. Existing and emerging technologies have great potential to reduce distracted driving today and the new NDDC report focuses on four categories of technological intervention: monitoring based prevention, restriction-based prevention, crash avoidance features, and automated enforcement-based prevention. We will explore these technologies, their capabilities, and their potential to mitigate distracted driving. Panelists will discuss the next steps in research and help the audience gain a better understanding of these technologies and how they work, thereby accelerating the acceptance and adoption these technologies by the public to reduce the number of distracted driving crashes on our roads.
